The True Love of God is Rhetoric

God loves all of his children with no doubt about it. He wants all of us to return to him one day. He gave his only Begotten Son so that we all may have the opportunity to be with him again someday. Our eldest brother, Jesus Christ suffered every sin and every affliction to atone for the sins of mankind. He knows every sorrow and every burden. He bled through every pore. This is how Jesus Christ served us, his family. Jesus Christ cried out, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

As Christ served us, Heavenly Father wants us all to do the same. To feel that love of Christ through the words and actions of man brings about a revolution. By serving our fellow man, we are serving our Lord and Savior. Through this act of love to one another, we are stepping closer to our Heavenly Father. We will feel his love grow exponentially. The love you will feel will be contagious.

As long as one has the right and sincere attitude when they serve, the initial reward is a warm sensation in your bosom. If one resentfully serves his fellowman, he will not feel the blessings of service. The attitude is the way the server conveys themselves. After serving others, the Spirit will testify to you and you will know with full assurance that God loves you. Your kind words and deeds have already testified to those you have served.

Through our service to our fellow brothers and sisters, we testify our love of Christ. Others will see the Light of Christ radiating. In Mosiah 2:17, it states “And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” We are not commanded to only serve our friends but we are commanded to serve everyone. It may be difficult to serve those who we are not familiar with or comfortable with; that is the true test. We must serve everyone. Christ atoned for the sins of everyone; he did not discriminate between man and woman or young and old. We are all children of God. Our Heavenly Fathers loves each and every one of us without any exceptions. As we serve, we draw closer not only to those we serve but to our Heavenly Father.

  1. I like the direction you took this. It's true that we are always encouraged to lead by example and many people are touched more by that than words. I know that the more I study Christ, the more I want to be like Him.

  2. Amen. I wish you would have said more and kept going with it, but it's find the way it is.

  3. I really like the way you talked about service and the love of Chirst. It's something that I hadn't really thought about being rhetoric, but it's so true that it is!

  4. I liked how you didn't even need to say the word "rhetoric" in your blog, yet we we were able to put the puzzle pieces together! Great blog!

  5. I agree with Braden--you fulfilled the requirements of the prompt and gave insight to the subject matter, without ever mentioning the word rhetoric. Creative but effective approach!
